An unbroken chain back to the Prophet ﷺ
An ijazah is a certificate a qualified teacher grants a student after the student recites the entire Quran to them in an accredited narration; the teacher attests to mastery and sound transmission, and authorizes the student to teach others through that chain.
This sanad is a continuous chain of teachers, each receiving from the one before, reaching back to the Prophet ﷺ, from Jibrīl, from the Lord of Glory. Through it, the student is assured they receive the Quran as it was revealed — preserved from alteration across the centuries.
